Four instruments on a wooden X; a fixed pick strums each one as it sweeps past. Strings run radially so the pick crosses all of them.
How it works
Four instruments on a wooden X; a fixed pick strums each one as it sweeps past. Strings run radially so the pick crosses all of them.
Pitch comes from dampers: each unit is set to a chord, so one revolution plays a four-chord progression. Change a unit’s chord while it is on the far side.
Autoharps are the lightweight prototype; their chord bars already are dampers. Harpsichords are the full-scale version.
Risks
Mass and momentum near performers (slow, balanced, guarded).
Pick durability (tough plastic plectrum, retractable for rests).
Loose parts when upside down.
